In 1932 Chatham, Ontario, with black players being banned from major league baseball, a group of friends began setting up their own exhibitions games. As they grew in popularity, they caught the eye of a member of the OBAA, who arranged games where they would compete against local white teams. In just their second year of competitive play, the Chatham All Stars won their first provincial championship, making them the first Black team ever to win an OBAA title.
The mission with this project was to pay homage to the team, and educate others to the historical significance the team played in the advancement of diversity in the sport of baseball. The goal was to modernize the teams logos and jerseys, while keeping the integrity and history that the original designs provided. This project was in collaboration with Clutch Life 85 sports apparel.
